Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin leaves game vs. Kraken with lower-body injury
Pittsburgh Penguins’ forward Evgeni Malkin left Saturday’s game against the Seattle Kraken with a lower-body injury, and the team announced on social media that he would not return.

Malkin left the game after a collision with Kraken forward Chandler Stephenson, where it appeared that Malkin’s left leg bent awkwardly.

Several reporters said Malkin went to the locker room, briefly returned to the bench, then went back to the locker room and did not return.
Malkin made national headlines just over a week ago when his three Stanley Cup rings were allegedly stolen in a break-in at his Pittsburgh home. However, the rings were found soon after.
The 38-year-old Malkin has nine goals and 25 assists for 34 points in 46 regular-season games this season, tied for third on the team in points. Now in his 19th NHL season, the future Hockey Hall of Famer has 506 goals and 823 assists for 1,329 points in 1,187 games, all with the Penguins. Malkin is 34th on the NHL’s all-time points list.
Malkin has won the league Art Ross Trophy twice, leading the NHL in points with 113 points in 2008-09 and 109 in 2011-12, respectively.
Malkin has also played in 177 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring 67 goals and adding 113 assists for 180 points. The 2004 No. 2 overall pick was a major factor in Pittsburgh winning three Stanley Cup championships in 2009, 2016 and 2017. Malkin won the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP in 2009.es.
