Beauvillier was an unrestricted free agent after the conclusion of his three-year contract with a $4.15 million cap hit that he originally signed with the New York Islanders. There are currently no details regarding any no-move/no-trade clauses or signing bonuses with this contract.
Beauvillier sees a pay cut of $2.9 million on his cap hit, with his new contract having the lowest non-ELC AAV of his career, and comes in at 1.42% of the 2024-25 salary cap. He shares a cap hit with St. Louis Blues’ winger Alexey Toropchenko, who is entering the final year of his two-year contract this upcoming season.
Beauvillier was well travelled last season, splitting it with the Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators and collecting 5 goals and 12 assists for 17 points in 60 games. It’s the lowest point total in a season in his career, with his previous low coming in his rookie season in 2016-17 where he had 24 points in 66 games.
Beauvillier also had 1 goal and 1 assists for 2 points in 6 games for the Preds as the team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by his teammates from earlier in the year in the Canucks.
The Penguins have signed forward Jimmy Huntington on a one-year contract.
The contract will run through the 2024.25 campaign and carries an average annual value of $775,000 million at the NHL level.

The Penguins also made a smaller addition to the team, signing center Jimmy Huntington to a one-year, $775,000 contract. Huntington was without an NHL contract for the 2023-24 season, instead playing on an AHL contract with the Washington Capitals’ AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears.
In 67 regular season games with the Bears in the AHL, Huntington had 16 goals, 17 assists and 33 points. He also had 5 goals and 9 assists for 14 points in 20 playoff games as Hershey went on to win the Calder Cup.
Beauvillier and Huntington are two of the five signings that the Penguins have made on the first day of free agency, as they’ve also re-signed Ryan Shea and added Matt Grzelcyk and Mac Hollowell, along with trading Reilly Smith to the New York Rangers. They have almost $7 million in projected salary cap space after these moves, with the only remaining restricted free agents in their system being Corey Andonovski and Dillon Hamaliuk.
