PointsBet Daily Picks: Taking the over on Canucks vs. Blue Jackets
Tyler Yaremchuk joined Mike McKenna on Tuesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff Live for another PointsBet Daily Picks segment.
Can the New Jersey Devils find their offense and pick up their first win over the Anaheim Ducks? Meanwhile, Yaremchuk explains why he is taking the over in tonight’s matchup between the Vancouver Canucks and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Let’s move on to our daily bet segment brought to you by our friends at PointsBet Canada. Where I got absolutely smoked last night — Alexis Lafreniere missed by one shot, Leafs vs. Coyotes missed by one goal, and the Penguins found a way to blow a third-period lead to the Montreal Canadiens. But, it’s early in the season and I’m not worried about it.
Let’s jump into what I got today. Starting with the New Jersey Devils, who don’t have a win yet this season and I say they’re getting it tonight on home ice. It has been a rough road trip for the Anaheim Ducks so far, they have allowed 13 goals in their last two games. I think the Devils finally get their offense going a little bit tonight. I like them to win, and while I’m not confident enough to go Puckline — I’m confident enough in them to win in regulation at -130. An interesting stat about the Devils is they’re actually first in the league in 5-on-5 shots for percentage according to NaturalStatTrick. So, they’ve actually been controlling play it appears at 5-on-5, their shooting percentage though is under 5% as a team and the offense should get going. The Ducks are on back-to-backs and struggling, like I said, to keep pucks out of the back of the net. The Devils get the offense going and beat the Ducks in regulation.
And a pair of winless teams going head to head: Vancouver and Columbus, Vancouver in action last night, I don’t like a winner on either side of this one. It’s basically a pick ’em on PointsBet but I do like the over 6 goals at -125. The Canucks are averaging 7.67 goals per game combined while the Blue Jackets are at 6.34, so they beat the going over early in the season and I think with the Canucks on back to back’s I think there’s a chance we see some more mistakes and some offense in this hockey game. So, I am taking the Devils -130 in regulation, and the over -125 between Vancouver and Columbus. My shot prop today is going to be Steven Stamkos and it’s over 3.5 shots on goal at +105. He’s averaging five shots per game, so that’s my third play of the night courtesy of our friends at PointsBet Canada.
