Predators sign Ozzy Wiesblatt to two-year, two-way contract

The Nashville Predators signed forward Ozzy Wiesblatt to a two-year, two-way contract on Friday, Lower Broad Hockey contributor Michael Gallagher reported on social media.

The 22-year-old Wiesblatt has two assists and 12 shots on goal in six games with the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals so far this season.
Since being drafted No. 31 overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Wiesblatt has spent his entire professional career in the AHL with the Admirals and San Jose Barracuda, the AHL affiliate of the Sharks. Through five AHL seasons, Wiesblatt has 12 goals and 25 assists for 37 points in 107 career regular-season games.
Wiesblatt, a native of Calgary, Alta., found success in the Western Hockey League with the Prince Albert Raiders. During his draft season, 2019-20, he scored 25 goals and 45 assists for 70 points in 64 games. Through parts of five WHL seasons, Wiseblatt had 58 goals and 121 assists for 179 points in 195 career regular-season games.
He also produced in the WHL Playoffs, scoring five goals and five assists for 10 points in 23 games during the 2019 playoff campaign, helping the Raiders win the WHL Championship.
The Predators have gotten off to a tough start, going 3-6-1 with seven points through their first 10 games. As of Nov. 1, they’re second-last in the entire league.
Forward Filip Forsberg leads the team in scoring with five goals and four assists for nine points. Teammate Ryan O’Reilly leads in assists with five, combined with three goals. Offseason acquisition Steven Stamkos has struggled through his first 10 games with the club, scoring just one goal.
