PWHL Minnesota hire Melissa Caruso as new general manager
PWHL Minnesota announced Tuesday the hiring of Melissa Caruso as the club’s newest general manager.

Caruso joins Minnesota from the AHL, where she spent 15 years.

Caruso, a St. Paul, Minn., native, served in various roles for the American Hockey League for over 15 years, and was recently the vice president of hockey operations and governance of the AHL. Under that role, she built the league’s schedule, managed the central player registry, handled the league’s by-laws, regulations and player eligibility, while working with the AHL’s Board of Governors.
“It’s an exciting time for women’s sports, and I thank leadership for trusting me with the opportunity to lead PWHL Minnesota during these crucial formative years for the league,” Caruso said in a press release.
PWHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Jayna Hefford says Caruso is the ideal candidate for Minnesota.
“Her strong background in operations and governance, combined with her extensive hockey knowledge and leadership experience, make her a great fit for the role,” Hefford said. “Melissa’s passion for the game, along with her ties to the local community, positions her perfectly to lead the team both on and off the ice.”
“I can’t wait to get started on the journey to defend the Walter Cup in season two,” Caruso added.
Minnesota became the first team in PWHL history to win the league championship, taking home the Walter Cup after defeating PWHL Boston in five games. Forward Grace Zumwinkle led the team in goals and points with 11 and 19, respectively, while forward Kelly Pannek had 12 assists.
In the Walter Cup Playoffs, forward Taylor Heise was on fire, scoring five goals and three assists for eight points, being named PWHL Playoff MVP.
