The second-best team in the Professional Women’s Hockey League made some moves before their game on Sunday.

PWHL Montreal has signed forward Catherine Dubois to a Standard Player Agreement, while they placed defender Dominika Lásková on long-term injured reserve with an undisclosed injury.

Dubois’ story during this inaugural season has been interesting. She was invited to the team’s training camp in December, and was eventually signed on as a reserve player. However, due to some early-season injuries she has played in all but three games with Montreal, signing two separate 10-day contracts. She made an immediate impact in her first game on Jan. 10, scoring a power play goal in a 5-2 win over New York.

In seven games, the University of Montreal product has only the one goal to her stat line.

Dubois spent last season with the Montreal Force of the Premier Hockey Federation, also playing a handful of games with Montreal during the PWHPA Dream Gap Tours from 2020-22.

Lásková suffered an injury in Montreal’s 2-1 overtime win over Ottawa back on Jan. 27. She took a hard tumble in the game, and hobbled back to the bench. She has since missed the team’s last two games, though there has been no inclination what is exactly ailing the 27-year-old blueliner. In seven games this season, she has no points, and a zero plus/minus.

Lásková was taken by Montreal in the fourth round of the PWHL Draft, the highest player taken out of Czechia. She played 13 games with Lulea HF of the SDHL before joining Montreal this season.

The former Merrimack standout played her rookie season of pro hockey with the PHF’s Toronto Six, helping the team win the last Isobel Cup.

Montreal (3-3-2-2) is facing off with first-place Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. They come into the game four points back of Minny with a game in hand.
