The team also announced that forward Alex Carpenter and defender Ella Shelton were the first pair of alternate captains.
Zandee-Hart, 26, signed a three-year deal with New York back in early September. The native of Victoria, B.C. won a gold medal with the Canadian National Team at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. Zandee-Hart also has both a gold and silver medal at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships, respectively, along with a bronze from the 2019 World Championships.
She played four seasons of college hockey at Cornell University, where she scored 17 goals, 70 assists and 87 points in 124 games. She served as captain in her senior season in 2019-2
Carpenter, 29, signed a three-year deal with New York on the same day Zandee-Hart agreed to terms with the club. She is one of the most prolific players in the U.S. National Team’s history. She has won six World Championship gold medals, and has been awarded two Olympic silver medals (Sochi 2014 and Beijing 2022).
Carpenter also won the Patty Kazmaier Award in 2014-15 after scoring 37 goals and 44 assists for 81 points in 37 games with Boston College.
Shelton, 25, won Olympic gold with Canada in Beijing 2022, as well as two World Championship gold medals in 2021 and 2022. She was taken fourth overall in the PWHL Draft last September, signing a three-year contract with New York on Oct. 31. During her senior year at Clarkson University, she was named captain.
