Per the PWHL’s collective bargaining agreement, each team will play 30 games this year, up from 24 during the inaugural season. That means teams will play each other six times, with an even split of home and away matchups.
“Our teams and players are so eager to bring their new identities to life,” PWHL Senior VP of Hockey Operations Jayna Hefford said in a release. “And the schedule announcement elevates that sense of anticipation…For our players and our fans, the season ahead will be intense, competitive and fun.”
The Sceptres will host the Fleet on Nov. 30 at Coca-Cola Coliseum, the arena Toronto called home during last year’s playoffs. Their first road game will be Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. against the Ottawa Charge in the first Battle of Ontario of the season. That game will be the Charge’s home opener, as they are returning to the raucous TD Place.
The Montreal Victoire will open their home schedule at Laval’s Place Bell also on Nov. 30, taking on the Charge in an all-Canadian battle at 5 p.m. ET.
The reigning Walter Cup champion Minnesota Frost will begin their title defense at the Xcel Energy Center on Sunday, Dec. 1, taking on the New York Sirens at 6 p.m. ET. The Frost will then head to the Tsongas Center in Lowell to take on the Fleet in their home opener, a PWHL Final rematch set for Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. ET.
The Sirens have to wait a while before entertaining the home fans. Their season debut at the Prudential Center in New Jersey won’t be until Wednesday, Dec. 18, when they take on the Sceptres.
The regular season will conclude on Saturday, May 3, with the Frost taking on the Fleet while the Sceptres host the Charge.
According to the league website, most of the games have their venues already scheduled. However, 14 games’ sites yet to be determined. The PWHL brass has hinted that there will be several neutral-site games this season, but none have been announced.
The schedule is pretty spread out, as April 26 is the only day that all six teams will be in action. There are a couple of breaks in the schedule for international competition. The first will be from Dec. 9-16, with the second coming from Feb. 3-10. That pause will feature the conclusion of both the Rivalry Series and EuroHockey Tour. The final break will be in April for the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship.
The beginning of the postseason will be determined at a later date.
