PWHL sets schedule for 2025 PWHL Final

The stage is set for the final series of the women’s hockey season.
On Friday night, the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced the schedule for the 2025 PWHL Final, pitting the Ottawa Charge against the defending Walter Cup champion Minnesota Frost.
The series was finalized on Friday when the Charge eliminated the top-seeded Montreal Victoire in four games, sending the team to the final for the first time in franchise history.
It took both teams four games to get through the semifinals, though their paths to this point were vastly different.
Ottawa missed out on the playoffs entirely during the league’s inaugural season. In order to qualify for the postseason, they had to beat the rival Toronto Sceptres on the final day of the regular season. Though they finished in third place, the Charge was selected by the Victoire to be its first-round opponent. That seemed to further inspire Ottawa, which was noticeable in their Game 1 win in Laval.
Though the Charge lost the second game of the series, which was the longest game in PWHL history, they responded with two wins, both featuring grade-A performances from rookie goaltender Gwyneth Philips, to advance to the final for the first time.
Similar to what happened in year one, Minnesota sort of backed its way into the playoffs, beating the Boston Fleet in their regular-season finale. Though the team started off as one of the top teams in the league, inconsistencies led to them finishing fourth, setting up a rematch with Toronto in the semifinals.
After losing Game 1, the Frost stormed back, using both Maddie Rooney and Nicole Hensley between the pipes to win the next three games, including an overtime victory in Game 4, punching their ticket to the final for the second year in a row.
