PWHL signings: Boston signs Loren Gabel, Montreal signs Jillian Dempsey
PWHL teams continued adding to their rosters, with two former Boston Pride forwards being inked on Thursday.
Boston signs F Loren Gabel
Boston signed 2023 PHF MVP and 2019 Patty Kazmaier Award winner Loren Gabel to a two-year contract.

Gabel, taken in the fourth round of the PHF Draft last September, spent the 2022-23 season with the Boston Pride of the PHF, scoring 20 goals and 20 assists for 40 points in 22 games. She was named the Most Valuable Player, the Outstanding Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.
Gabel spent her college career at Clarkson University, winning national championships in 2016-17 and 2017-18. During her senior season in 2018-19, she scored 40 goals and 29 assists for 69 points in 38 games, securing a Patty Kazmaier Award for the best player in the country. Over her four seasons at Clarkson, she scored 116 goals and 96 assists for 213 points, retiring as the all-time leading scorer in school history.
Montreal signs F Jillian Dempsy
Not to be outdone, Montreal signed their own PHF legend, inking Jillian Dempsey to a one-year contract.

Dempsy, an 11th-round pick in last September’s draft, spent eight seasons with the Pride, winning three Isobel Cup championships in 2016, 2021 and 2022. When the PHF dissolved last summer, Dempsy was the league’s all-time for games played (142), goals (70), assists (76) and points (146).
Dempsy played her college hockey with the Harvard Crimson from 2009-10 to 2012-13, serving as team captain in her final season. In 129 career games, she scored 148 points, finishing on the top-10 all-time scoring list for Harvard.
