Welcome to Quadrelli’s Who’s Hot — a column in which David Quadrelli will break down who’s trending in the right direction around the league.

Who’s Hot

Mason Marchment

Seemingly out of nowhere, Mason Marchment is a point per game player in the NHL this season.

After bouncing around in the Toronto Maple Leafs’ organization for the past six years, the 25-year-old Marchment is finding a home in Florida with the Panthers.

Since January 25th, Marchment has tallied six goals and six assists — good enough for 12 points through five games.

It just doesn’t get much hotter than that, so keep an eye on Marchment moving forward.

Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner

Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews are doing exactly what the Leafs expect them to do — and that’s put up points.

Over their past four games, the Leafs’ gunners have a ridiculous 21 points between them; five goals and six assists for Marner, and four goals and six helpers for Matthews.

Coming out of the All-Star break, the Leafs will be riding a five game win streak, which has been fuelled largely by the contributions from the players they need to come through the most.

Sam Reinhart

Not much has gone wrong for the Florida Panthers this season, and their acquisition of Sam Reinhart has been no exception.

Reinhart is currently scoring at a point per game clip — something he’s never been able to sustain over the full course of a season in any year prior.

He’s got 16 goals and 28 assists on the year, but has been a key driver in Florida’s offence over the past five games.

In that time, Reinhart has four goals — three of which were scored at even strength — and five assists, which has helped the Panthers string together a 7-3 record in their last ten and place them firmly at the top of the Atlantic Division standings.

Honorable mentions: Nazem Kadri (3-5-8 in 4 GP), Bryan Rust (5-3-8 in 5 GP), Anton Lundell (1-7-8 in 5 GP)
