Rangers’ Filip Chytil leaves game vs. Stars with upper-body injury

New York Rangers’ forward Filip Chytil left Tuesday’s game against the Dallas Stars with an upper-body injury, with the team reporting on social media that he would not return.

New York Post reporter Larry Brooks reported that Chytil was not on the bench for the last four minutes of the second period and did not come out for the third period.

Chytil’s last shift was with five minutes left in the first period. It was unclear how he injured himself.

The 25-year-old Chytil has 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points in 32 regular-season games. Now in his eighth season, Chytil has 74 goals and 87 assists for 161 points in 369 career regular-season games.

Chytil has also played in 36 Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring eight goals and five assists for 13 points.

Going into Tuesday’s game, the Rangers are 18-20-1 with 37 points, seventh in the Metropolitan Division. They are 3-7-0 in their last 10 games.

Forward Artemi Panarin leads the team with 43 points (16 goals and 27 assists), while defenseman Adam Fox has a team-leading 30 assists. Vincent Trocheck is third on the team in points with 27, scoring 13 goals and adding 14 assists.

Goaltender Igor Shesterkin has an 11-15-1 record with a .906 save percentage and 3.10 goals against average in 27 appearances. Jonathan Quick has a 6-5-0 record with a .900 SV% and 2.98 GAA in 15 games.
