Rangers GM Chris Drury: Filip Chytil is a ‘full go’ for 2024-25

New York Rangers’ President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Chris Drury told reporters Tuesday that Filip Chytil is a “full go” ahead of the 2024-25 NHL season.

Drury also said Chytil has no issues and there’s nothing holding him back as the Rangers gear up for training camp, according to NY Post reporter Mollie Walker.

The 25-year-old Chytil only played 10 regular-season games last season, missing nearly the entire year after suffering a concussion last November. In January, the Rangers ruled him out for the entire regular season. He returned to play in Game 3 of the Rangers’ second-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes, and would end up playing six Stanley Cup Playoff games during New York’s run to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Through seven NHL seasons, Chytil has scored 64 goals and 80 assists for 144 points in 337 career regular-season games. He’s also scored eight goals and five assists for 13 points in 36 playoff games.

Taken No. 21 overall by the Rangers in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Chytil has carved out a role for himself as a reliable depth forward in the Ranger lineup. He broke out offensively in 2022-23, scoring 22 goals and 23 assists for 45 points, all career highs.

Internationally, Chytil has represented his native Czech Republic multiple times, including helping them win gold at the 2016 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. He also took part in the 2018 World Junior Championships, and has appeared in three World Championships.

The Rangers went 55-23-4 with 114 points in 2023-24, the best record in the league, earning them the Presidents’ Trophy. They made it to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost in six games to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
