What is fuelling the Blues’ incredible hot streak?

It what was a tight race for the final Stanley Cup Playoff spots in the Western Conference for a while, no team has outperformed the St. Louis Blues. They have won nine straight games and are sitting on 87 points, seemingly destined for the postseason.
The Blues are coming off a 2-1 win against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night and look ahead to a matchup with the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. But how can they not start looking towards the playoffs?
Former Blues netminder Carter Hutton joined Frank Seravalli on Daily Faceoff Live on Monday to break it all down.
Seravalli: Will this team ever lose again? Nine consecutive wins. When you look at this team, they have basically assured themselves at least the eighth seed and could potentially pass the Minnesota Wild for the seventh spot. This team played incredible hockey over the last number of weeks.
Hutton: I look at that little 4 Nations bump for Jordan Binnington; he’s been absolutely rock solid, and I think, mentally, he’s back to where he was.
They lose Pietrangelo, and they’ve lost some players from that really good Stanley Cup team that defended so well, but I think for Binnington, there is a lot of confidence that he can build off of that.
You look down this lineup, and Robert Thomas has been unbelievable—even his stat line, missing 12 games. Zach Bolduc stepped up the other night with a great game and a power play goal, and he’s been a nice addition to this team.
Something that stands out to me, Frank, is their back end. You look at them going to get Cam Fowler, the veteran. He’s been a great addition… They have experience on the back end and I feel like that is so valuable at this time of year.
