Red Wings’ Patrick Kane records 1,300th career NHL point
Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane has recorded his 1,300th career National Hockey League (NHL) point Sunday versus Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
Kane sniped home a goal in the first period to give him his 1,299th point, then the veteran followed up with an assist on Alex DeBrincat’s goal.
Kane becomes the 38th NHL player in history to reach 1,300 points and is 74 points shy of tying Mike Modano for the 2nd-most for U.S.-born players in NHL history.

Kane is skating in his second season with the Red Wings after signing with the club last November as an unrestricted free agent. In June, the Buffalo, N.Y., native agreed to a one-year extension that carries a $4-million annual average value, per PuckPedia.
Kane is a three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Chicago Blackhawks, Kane’s decorated career has spanned 1,260 games over parts of 18 NHL seasons in which he has has registered 477 goals and 823 assists for 1,300 points in stops with the Blackhawks, New York Rangers, and Red Wings. Among his many other accolades, Kane claimed the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year in 2007-08 and the Conn Smythe Trophy as the 2013 playoff MVP after putting 19 points in 23 postseason appearances to help the Blackhawks capture their second Stanley Cup championship in four years.
Detroit currently sits eighth in the Atlantic Division with a 13-18-4 record and 30 points through 35 games. The Red Wings are slated to face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday and the red-hot Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.
