We are now more than one year removed from the trade that sent Cutter Gauthier to the Anaheim Ducks and Jamie Drysdale and a 2025 second-round pick to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Since then, Gauthier has been solid with 7 goals and 14 assists for 21 points in 44 games, but it hasn’t quite jumped off the page yet. Meanwhile, Drysdale has played a little bit more with 55 games, but struggled to produce with just 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points, and has been out of the lineup a decent amount due to injuries and healthy scratches.

Neither team has really jumped out as the true winner of this deal quite yet, and with a draft pick still yet to be used, we may not know for several more years. But Felix Sicard of Crash the Pond joined Daily Faceoff Live for their All 32 segment to talk about the trade one year out, and how it’s looked for the Ducks so far.

Felix Sicard: I think the Ducks probably feel great. I mean, if you compare the two players, and especially the positional need, Jamie Drysdale was always a little bit of a luxury item for them. They have so many young defensemen, even right now they’re having a hard time getting all of their young defensemen in the lineup. Now, some of that is self-inflicted, but they have even more guys on the way with Tristan Luneau down in the AHL.

So I think Jamie Drysdale was always a guy that the Ducks could stand to lose essentially. Cutter Gauthier been really good. The production hasn’t been there, but from a five-on-five perspective, I think he’s played really well. So I think the Ducks feel good.

I can’t speak for the Flyers perspective. I haven’t watched Jamie Drysdale a ton. I wish him nothing but the best, But I think it’s worked out pretty well for the Ducks.
