Roman Josi becomes Predators’ all-time games played leader
Roman Josi has reached the top.
Appearing in his 957th game on Monday, the Swiss-born blue-liner became the all-time leader in games played with the Nashville Predators, surpassing former forward David Legwand for top spot.
Originally chosen 38th overall by the Predators in the 2008 NHL Draft, Josi has spent his entire career with the Tennessee-based club, where through part of 14 seasons he has registered 190 goals and 531 assists for 721 points. Josi has also added 12 goals and 33 assists for 45 points through 91 playoff appearances.
Josi has flashed his offensive dominance in recent seasons, highlighted by the 2021-22 campaign when he reached 96 points, surpassing Paul Kariya’s then franchise record for the most points in a Predators’ season. In all, the 2021-22 campaign saw Josi finish 12th in scoring league wide, while his 96 points ranked first among defensemen. Josi is also a two-time 20-plus goal scorer as he notched 23 tallies in both 2021-22 and 2023-24.
Josi also received recognition in 2019-20 when he was presented with the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s Defenseman of the Year. That season, Josi neared point-per-game production as he registered 16 goals and 49 assists through 69 showings. Josi also finished as a Norris Trophy finalist in both 2021-22 and 2023-24. On three occasions, Josi has been recognized as part of the NHL’s First All-Star Team at season’s end.
A pivotal producer during the Predators’ run to the 2017 Stanley Cup Final, Josi finished second in Predators’ scoring and first among defensemen after he recorded 14 points counting six goals and eight assists through 22 postseason appearances.
Monday’s accomplishment marks the latest major feat for Josi, who already stands at the Predators’ all-time leader in points and assists. Josi also sits third all-time in goals, 116 behind Filip Forsberg for top spot.
