Ryan Suter Returning to the Lineup on Monday

All signs point to Ryan Suter returning to the lineup on Monday. In fact, Suter was healthy enough to play on Saturday but the Nashville Predators coaching staff kept him out of the lineup according to Josh Cooper of The Tennessean. Expect him to play on his normal pairing with Shea Weber.

Very rarely do player updates come directly from the source. However, Ryan Suter may have some journalist in him yet.

Today, the shut-down defender traveled to the NHL offices in New York City to do a promotion with teammate Shea Weber. Dan Rosen of NHL.com reported shortly after that Suter would not play tomorrow against the Columbus Blue Jackets as he ruled himself out of the contest.

His next opportunity to get back into the lineup is now this Saturday, January 21st, when the Preds host the Chicago Blackhawks.

Ryan Suter will not dress for tonight’s game against the New York Rangers but remains with the team according to Joshua Cooper of The Tennessean, via Twitter. The Preds travel to Columbus to close out their road trip with Suter likely to return as soon as this Thursday.

Minutes before today’s 1PM puck drop there were whispers of Ryan Suter sitting out with a mysterious upper-body injury. Nevertheless, the impending unrestricted free agent took the ice for warmups and decided to play.

That would be the end of the good news.

Suter left the game after playing just 7:04. Due to a 3-0 first-period lead the Preds were able to defeat the cellar dwelling Islanders but failed to score a goal after their stud defenseman left the game. After today’s tilt, head coach Barry Trotz confirmed it was an upper-body injury and added that he was doubtful for tomorrow’s tilt with the Rangers.

We should have an update on his status prior to tomorrow’s tilt.
