Sabres sign Jacob Bryson to one-year contract extension

The Buffalo Sabres announced that they have signed defenseman Jacob Bryson to a one-year contract worth $900,000.
The 27-year-old was set to become an unrestricted free agent. Bryson is now signed through the 2025-26 campaign.

Bryson has appeared in 42 games with Buffalo this season, notching seven points and averaging 14:22 of ice time a night. In his last nine appearances he has three assists and nine blocked shots in that span.
Bryson appeared in 36 games with Buffalo during the 2023-24 season registering one goal and seven assists which earned him a one-year extension for this season.
Throughout his career so far, Bryson has registered four goals and 43 points in 248 career NHL games. The Sabres drafted him in the fourth round in 2017, 99th overall.
Prior to his pro career, the London, Ontario native spent three seasons with Providence College in the NCAA where he served as an assistant captain for two seasons. During his time with the Friars, Bryson was named to the NCAA Hockey East all-tournament team and was named a second-team All-American during the 2017-18 season. Bryson won the NCAA Hockey East Sportsmanship award in back-to-back seasons as well. In 121 games Bryson notched 11 goals and 62 assists for 63 points. Prior to his NCAA tenure, Bryson played in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the Omaha Lancers where he was named to the All-Rookie Team.
The Sabres currently sit eighth in the Atlantic Division with a 27-33-6 record and 60 points, they trail nine points back of the Boston Bruins for seventh in the Atlantic. Buffalo is slated to face the Utah Hockey Club on Thursday, the Minnesota Wild on Saturday and the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.
