The San Jose Sharks claimed right winger Walker Duehr off waivers from the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, reports Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Through 16 games with the Flames in 2024-25, Duehr has recorded one point and a minus-six rating. Duehr has also split time this season with the Flames’ top minor-league affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers, where through 20 showings with the AHL squad he has scored at a near point-per-game pace in posting 11 goals and eight assists through 20 appearances.

Signing with Calgary in 2021 following a four-year run with the NCAA’s Minnesota State Mavericks, Duehr has skated part of four seasons with the Flames, seeing 84 total games in which he has registered nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points.

Duehr has been especially productive at the AHL level where through part of five seasons and 127 total appearances he has recorded 37 goals and 32 assists for 69 points. The 27-year-old native of Sioux Falls, S.D., was also a force over his four seasons with the Mavericks, underscored by four consecutive WCHA regular season championships. In all, at the collegiate level, Duehr amassed 51 points counting 25 goals and 26 assists in 102 contests.

A USHL graduate, Duehr spent three seasons at the junior level from 2014-17, counting stops with the Sioux City Musketeers, Tri-City Storm, Chicago Steel, and Bloomington Thunder. In 2016, Duehr helped the Storm claim the Clark Cup after putting up 23 points in 38 regular-season appearances before adding another four points through 11 postseason outings.

Duehr joins a rebuilding Sharks squad that sits at the bottom of the NHL standings with a record of 14-30-6 and 34 points. In the midst of a four-game losing skid, the Sharks will look to pick up their 15th win of the season when the club returns to the ice Thursday to take on the Nashville Predators.
