Sharks’ Macklin Celebrini a game-time decision against Blues

San Jose Sharks superstar center Macklin Celebrini has already missed one game this season with a lower-body injury, Monday’s 5-0 loss to the Dallas Stars. For Sharks fans, that one-game absence probably feels like more than enough.
The good news is that San Jose could be getting their newest captain right back in the lineup, as Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky revealed that Celebrini is a game-time decision for Thursday’s road game agains the St. Louis Blues.
Celebrini, 20, has no goals and five assists in two games played this season, leading San Jose in scoring with five points despite missing Monday’s game. Last season, the Vancouver native notched 45 goals and 70 assists for 115 points in all 82 regular season games, finishing fourth in the NHL in scoring and fourth in voting for the Hart Trophy.
He also played a starring role for the Canadian men’s national team at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in February, registering five goals and five assists for 10 points in six games en route to a silver medal.
Selected first overall out of Boston University by the Sharks in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Celebrini had an impressive rookie campaign at 18 years old in the 2024-25 season, putting up 25 goals and 38 assists for 63 points in 70 games.
Celebrini, who was named San Jose’s 14th captain in franchise history in September, leads a young, talented Sharks team that also includes forwards Will Smith, Michael Misa, and Ivar Stenberg, among others. San Jose is hoping to make the playoffs this season for the first time since 2019, which would be a stepping stone towards eventual Stanley Cup contention.
After visiting the Blues on Thursday, the Sharks will host the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday for the first of back-to-back home games.
