Sharks’ Marc-Edouard Vlasic to miss game against Hurricanes with upper-body injury

Vlasic has tallied two points in just 17 games this season. Injuries also slowed Vlasic down in 2023-24, playing just 57 games and recording six goals and six assists for 12 points and 26 penalty minutes with a minus-27 rating.
Earlier in the month, Vlasic became the all-time leader in shots blocked in the NHL, blocking his 2,165th shot block on March 4.
Since entering the NHL in 2006-07 after an illustrious junior career with the Quebec Remparts, Vlasic has spent his entire NHL career with the Sharks, helping lead them to the 2019 Stanley Cup Final where they fell to the St. Louis Blues, while also playing a key role in their 2011 Western Conference Final run, ending against the Vancouver Canucks.
Through 1,308 regular season games, Vlasic has 83 goals, 295 assists and 378 points. Vlasic has represented Canada on several occasions. He was part of the 2014 Olympic group that won gold in Sochi and was also part of the 2016 World Cup roster.
Vlasic dominated the QMJHL with the Quebec Remparts, scoring 16 goals and adding 57 assists for 73 points in 66 games in 2005-06. He followed that with five goals and 24 assists for 29 games in 23 playoff games, helping the Remparts make the QMJHL Finals and capture the Memorial Cup.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Schuldt will draw into the lineup, with Vlasic absent. Schuldt has appeared in four games with the Sharks this season, previously he appeared in just one NHL game dating back to 2018-19 when he suited up for the Vegas Golden Knights. The San Jose Barracuda captain has tallied 18 points in 55 AHL games this season.
