San Jose Sharks place Macklin Celebrini on injured reserve
The San Jose Sharks announced they have placed rookie forward Macklin Celebrini on the injured reserve.
There is no clear answer as to what he has injured, but Celebrini will miss a minimum of seven games going back to his NHL debut on Thursday.
Celebrini scored his first NHL goal in his first NHL game on Thursday against the St. Louis Blues, dazzling in the offensive zone and throwing the puck on the net where it ricocheted off Matthew Kessel’s skate and into the net. Celebrini also added an assist on Tyler Toffoli’s goal later that period.

Additionally, C Macklin Celebrini has been placed on injured reserve.
The North Vancouver, British Columbia native tallied 32 goals and 64 points in 38 games with the Boston University Terriers of the NCAA during the 2023-24 campaign. Celebrini captured the Hobey Baker Award as the Top Collegiate Player, the Hockey East Rookie of the Year, Hockey East Player of the Year and the NCAA Tim Taylor Award as the top NCAA rookie.
Celebrini spent the 2022-23 season with the USHL’s Chicago Steel, with whom he amassed 46 goals and 86 points in 50 games as a 16-year-old. He added six goals and 15 points in seven games with Team Canada at the 2023 IIHF U-18 World Championship.
Meanwhile, San Jose also announced they have recalled defenseman Jack Thompson from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the San Jose Barracuda. Thompson was acquired from Tampa Bay as part of the Anthony Duclair trade during the 2024 Trade Deadline. During the 2023-24 season, Thompson tallied nine points in 16 games with the Barracuda and tallied five goals and 27 assists for 32 points in 46 games with the Syracuse Crunch.
