Sharks sign Cameron Lund to entry-level contract

The San Jose Sharks have signed center Cameron Lund to a three-year, entry-level contract.
“Cam is a very talented player who brings speed, size, and skill to our group,” Sharks general manager Mike Grier said in a statement. “We’re excited to have him join the organization and look forward to watching him develop.”
Through 37 appearances this season with the NCAA’s Northeastern Huskies, Lund tallied 18 goals and 22 assists to finish second in team scoring with 40 points coupled with 14 penalty minutes and a plus-one rating. In all, Lund spent three seasons in the collegiate ranks. In 2022-23, Lund was named to Hockey East’s All-Rookie Team after putting up 23 points in 35 games with the Huskies, while the following year he was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, presented annually to the top college hockey player, after he notched 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 35 outings. In all, Lund’s three seasons with the Huskies totaled 93 points in 107 career contests.
Prior to committing to the Huskies, Lund spent part of two seasons with the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers highlighted by the 2021-22 campaign where through 62 appearances he finished second in team scoring after registering 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 points.
Lund was originally chosen 34th overall by the Sharks in the 2022 NHL Draft.
A 20-year-old native of Bridgewater, Mass., Lund has also seen success in international competition underscored by the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup where through four appearances he scored four times and added one assist for five points.
For the Sharks, on the season the rebuilding squad sits at the bottom of the NHL standings with an 18-42-9 record and 45 points. In the midst of a two-game skid, the Sharks will look to find the win column when the club returns to action Saturday against the Boston Bruins.
