McCormick’s ailment is a little more severe, as he will not participate in training camp due to a hip injury. He is listed as being out indefinitely.
Montour is coming off a respectable first season in 2024-25. In 81 games, he scored 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points. It was just the second time in the Brantford native’s NHL career that he hit the 40-point mark. The first time it occurred was during the 2022-23 campaign with the Florida Panthers, in which he posted a career-high 73 points.
Montour is beginning the second season of his seven-year contract, which he signed on July 1, 2024. The deal has an AAV of $7,142,857 through the 2030-31 campaign. For the next two years, he has a full no-trade clause.
Since signing with Seattle prior to its inaugural season, McCormick has spent the majority of his tenure with the organization playing for its American Hockey League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds. After playing 10 games for the Kraken in 2021-22, the De Pere, Wis. native has appeared in just one NHL game since, that coming in December 2023.
McCormick missed most of last season, with injuries limiting the 33-year-old to just 19 games. He hasn’t played since January 2025.
McCormick is heading into the final season of his two-year, two-way contract that he signed with the team in June 2024. The deal carries a cap hit of $775,000.
The Kraken’s training camp is set to begin on Thursday at the Kraken Community Iceplex.
