“We’re happy to keep Tye within the organization for two more years,” Kraken General Manager Jason Botterill said in a press release. “Tye has worked to develop his game with us over the last few seasons, and we look forward to continuing that growth moving forward.”

Kartye, an undrafted forward, signed a three-year entry level contract in March 2022 and made his first professional in 2022-23 with the Firebirds. He recorded 28 goals and 29 assists for 57 points in 72 regular-season games. He also had six goals and two assists for eight points in 18 Calder Cup Playoff games that spring.
The Kraken went 35-37-10 with 76 points in 2024-25, finishing seventh in the Pacific Division and tied for 29th in the NHL standings. They missed the playoffs for a second straight season and the third time in their four-year history.
On April 21, Seattle fired head coach Dan Bylsma after one season. One month later, they hired Lane Lambert to be his replacement.
