The American Hockey League has revealed the rosters for the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic.

The event will take place at Acrisure Arena, the home of the Coachella Valley Firebirds, on Feb. 1-2. Like years past, each team consists of 12 players (10 skaters, two goalies) with players from all 32 franchises being represented, just like the NHL.

Among the names of rising stars and established veterans, Detroit Red Wings goaltending prospect Sebastian Cossa will be one of 37 players to be playing in their first All-Star Classics. The Grand Rapids Griffins netminder and former first-round pick is off to a great start this season, sitting ninth in the league in save percentage (.918), leading Grand Rapids to first place in the AHL’s Central Division.

Cossa also made his NHL debut on Dec. 9, coming in relief of Ville Husso to grab a shootout win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Other all-stars who made their NHL debuts this season include Denton Mateychuk (Columbus Blue Jackets), Lian Bischsel and Justin Hryckowian (Dallas Stars) and Seamus Casey (New Jersey Devils).

Another player who is hopeful to one day be a regular with an Original Six team is Laval Rocket forward Joshua Roy. The 21-year-old is currently leading the Rocket with 13 goals and 25 points in 29 games, with the team challenging for first in the North Division.

Roy spent a considerable amount of time with the Montreal Canadiens last season, registering nine points in 23 appearances. The 2021 fifth-round pick has played in just four games for the Habs this year, last seeing NHL ice on Dec. 1.

Chicago Blackhawks prospect Frank Nazar is another first-time All-Star after an exceptional start with the Rockford IceHogs. After a fruitful career at the University of Michigan, the 20-year-old made his NHL debut with the Hawks last season, but started the 2024-25 campaign in the AHL. Nazar burst out of the gate, scoring 24 points in 21 games, and has been a consistent figure in Chicago’s lineup since getting called up last month. In 11 games with the Blackhawks, the 2022 13th-overall pick has two assists.

There are several players with NHL ties also participating in the event. Defenseman Ethan Bear, currently with the Hershey Bears, is making his first AHL All-Star appearance, as is longtime NHL veteran Austin Watson, who has been having a great season in front of Cossa in Grand Rapids.

Goaltenders Yaroslav Askarov (San Jose Barracuda) and Devon Levi (Rochester Americans) are part of a stacked goaltending crew named to the event. Askarov has played several games for the San Jose Sharks this season, while Levi is trying to find his game in the minors despite a couple of long stints with the Buffalo Sabres.

Like the NHL, the four divisions compete in a 3-on-3 tournament. Unlike the big league, the AHL has every team play against one another in a round-robin format. The teams with the two best records then meet in a “championship game to determine the winner.”
