Senators’ Artem Zub ‘out for a while’ with a foot fracture
When speaking to the media on Monday, Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green revealed that defenseman Artem Zub is, “going to be out for a while” with a fracture in his foot.

Green didn’t state exactly which foot Zub hurt or when it happened. However, during the Senators’ 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night, Zub took a shot off the inside of his right foot during the second period. Though he was able to play the remainder of the game, Brent Wallace from the Coming in Hot podcast reported that Zub was seen leaving Canadian Tire Centre with a limp.
Zub was not seen at the Sens’ practice on Sunday.
Through 11 games, the 29-year-old has registered two assists and a plus/minus of -7 while averaging 18:19 of ice time.
Staying healthy hasn’t been one of Zub’s strong suits over the years. He already missed nine games earlier this season after suffering a concussion in Ottawa’s third game of the campaign against the Los Angeles Kings. During the 2023-24 season, the Russian defender missed several games due to lower-body injuries, illness and another concussion he had last October. The ailments limited him to 69 games, which was up from just 53 appearances Zub had in 2022-23.
Zub is in the second season of a four-year contract extension he signed with the Sens in Dec. 2022. The deal carries an AAV of $4.6 million through the 2026-27 season.
Across four-plus seasons in the NHL, Zub has scored 17 goals and 56 assists for 73 points, with a career +5 rating while averaging 20:17 of ice time.
The Senators (8-11-1) are seventh in the Atlantic Division, one point ahead of the Montreal Canadiens for last in the division. They are scheduled to host the Calgary Flames on Monday night.
