Senators head coach Travis Green expects Josh Norris to be full participant at camp

In Bruce Garrioch’s one-on-one with Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green, Green indicated that forward Josh Norris would be a full participant at training camp and is expected to be in the lineup for the start of the 2024-25 season.

“He’s been a full participant in everything for a while now. The expectations are that he will be ready go,” Green said.

Norris was placed on long-term injured reserve back on March 1 due to an upper-body injury. In 50 games last season, he scored 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points.

Norris had missed time earlier last season in Oct, and Jan with upper-body injuries on his shoulder. The injury in March was later revealed to be to his left shoulder, something that Norris has already had surgery on twice in the past two years.

The 25-year-old was the 19th-overall pick of the San Jose Sharks in the 2017 NHL Draft, although he never played a game for their NHL or AHL squad, as he was dealt to the Sens halfway through his college career as part of the return in the Erik Karlsson trade in 2018. He made his NHL debut in the 2019-20 season for a three-game stint and has since gone on to spend the past four seasons at the NHL-level with the Sens.

Norris is currently in the third year of an eight-year contract with a $7.95 million cap hit, one he signed as a restricted free agent in the 2022 offseason.

Senators training camp is expected to get underway today at the Canadian Tire Centre and Bell Sensplex.
