Senators re-sign Shane Pinto to two-year, $7.5 million contract
The Ottawa Senators have re-signed forward Shane Pinto to a two-year, $7.5 million contract extension with $3.75 million cap hit.
The contract will pay him $2.5 million in 2024-25 and $5 million in 2025-26.

Pinto appeared in 41 games with Ottawa during the 2023-24 season notching nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points.
The 23-year-old was at the center of controversy last season when he was suspended 41 games for violating the league’s gambling policy. Pinto was cleared to return to play after a long and tumultuous saga in January and signed a one-year, $775,000 contract, just $25,000 over the league minimum.
The suspension had a big effect on the Franklin Square, New York product; and when he spoke to the media after getting the nod to return, Pinto expressed how hard it has been to be sitting at home serving the suspension.
“You kind of take it for granted being around the team,” Pinto said. “How much the boys mean to you. It’s good to be back. I don’t want to get too emotional about it, but it’s awesome.”
Pinto underwent shoulder surgery after an injury-riddled campaign in 2021-22 but ultimately returned to Ottawa the next season where he registered 20 goals and 15 assists in 82 games. The former North Dakota star has appeared in 140 NHL games over parts of five seasons, racking up 30 goals and 40 assists for 70 points.
Internationally, Pinto joined Team USA at the 2024 IIHF Men’s World Championship, playing alongside fellow Senators Brady Tkachuk and Jake Sanderson. He racked up two goals and seven assists for nine points.
