Senators sign Ridly Greig to four-year contract extension
The Ottawa Senators are locking down one of their young stars for a few years.
On Friday, the team announced it has signed forward Ridly Greig to a four-year contract extension. The deal, set to kick in next season, will carry an AAV of $3.25 million through the 2028-29 campaign.

The 22-year-old has appeared in 37 of the Senators’ 40 games this year. He missed a few games in October due to an upper-body injury but has since been a solid asset in the team’s forward group as it tries to stay in the playoff race. Greig has potted six goals and six assists for 12 points, a little off the pace that led to him notching a career-high 26 points during the 2023-24 campaign. He is currently 10th on the team in scoring.
Greig was taken by the Sens in the first round, 28th overall, in the 2020 NHL Draft. The former Brandon Wheat King made his NHL debut with Ottawa during the 2022-23 season, and has been a mainstay in the lineup over the past couple of years.
Along with his time with the Senators, Greig has seen notable action on the international stage. He helped Team Canada win gold at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, along with playing five games for his country at the IIHF Men’s World Championship last spring.
The Senators (19-18-3) are fifth in the Atlantic Division and three points back of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. They are set to visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday afternoon.
