The San Jose Sharks have acquired forward Ty Dellandrea from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round draft pick, the clubs announced Wednesday afternoon.
Dellandrea, 23, collected two goals and nine points in 42 games with the Stars during the 2023-24 regular season. He added one goal in six games with the club in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Stars originally selected Dellandrea in the first round (No. 13 overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft. The Port Perry, Ontario product appeared in parts of four seasons with the Stars to begin his professional career.
The fourth-round pick going to Dallas in this trade originally belonged to the Winnipeg Jets. It went to San Jose at the 2023 trade deadline in exchange for forward Vladislav Namestnikov.

Dellandrea made his NHL debut with the Stars in the 2020-21 season after wrapping up a strong junior career with the OHL’s Flint Firebirds. He won a gold medal while serving as an alternate captain for Team Canada at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship.
After appearing in his first 26 games with the Stars in 2020-21, Dellandrea spent all but one game of the 2021-22 season with the AHL’s Texas Stars, with whom he managed 23 goals and 50 points in 68 games.
The 6′ right wing returned to the NHL for the 2022-23 season, appearing in all 82 games with Dallas and registering nine goals and 28 points. He added three points (all goals) in 15 games with the Stars in the 2023 playoffs.
Through 151 career games over parts of four NHL seasons with the Stars, Dellandrea has collected 14 goals and 42 points. He’s tacked on four goals in 22 career playoff contests.
The Sharks acquired Dellandrea’s RFA negotiating rights in their deal with the Stars on Wednesday. Dellandrea played with the Stars on a one-year, $900,000 contract during the 2023-24 season and is now an RFA with arbitration rights.
After this move, the Sharks now have 10 RFAs to deal with this offseason: Dellandrea, Thomas Bordeleau, Luke Kunin, Jack Studnicka, Filip Zadina, Calen Addison, Henry Thrun, Ty Emberson, Brandon Coe, and Jacob Peterson.
