The San Jose Sharks Line Combinationshave placed defenseman Lucas Carlsson on waivers.

The Sharks activated Carlsson off the injured reserve and placed him on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Sharks’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the San Jose Barracuda.

San Jose signed Carlsson to a two-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 per season in July.

Carlsson played parts of two seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, recording two assists in 18 games after getting drafted 110th overall in 2016.

The Swedish defender had 15 goals, 39 points and 54 penalty minutes with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers last year. He played in the AHL all-star game in San Jose, representing the Atlantic Division. He previously led all AHL defensemen in goals the year before with 20 and also played two games with the Florida Panthers.

As a 26-year-old veteran, Carlsson has shown some real promise, but his defensive game has struggled at points. At the very least, his NHL experience could be helpful if called upon as an injury replacement.

Meanwhile in other waiver news, Boston Bruins forward Max Jones cleared waivers and will be assigned to the Bruins’ AHL affiliate the Providence Bruins.

In his short time with the Bruins, Jones has averaged a little over 11 minutes of ice time and is a -4.

In 262 career NHL appearances, Jones has scored 31 goals and 31 assists for 62 points and has never played in a Stanley Cup Playoff game.

In 51 AHL games, all with the San Diego Gulls, he scored 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points.
