Sharks place Ty Dellandrea on injured reserve
The San Jose Sharks have placed forward Ty Dellandrea on the injured reserve with an upper-body injury.
Dellandrea left Thursday night’s contest versus the Nashville Predators after taking a hit to the head from Predators forward Cole Smith during the second period. Dellandrea needed help off the ice from Sharks medical staff as a scrum ensued around him and the benches.

The 24-year-old has five points and 26 penalty minutes in 40 games this season with San Jose.
The Sharks acquired Dellandrea from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round draft pick during the off-season.
Dellandrea made his NHL debut with the Stars in the 2020-21 season after wrapping up a strong junior career with the OHL’s Flint Firebirds. He won a gold medal while serving as an alternate captain for Team Canada at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Meanwhile the Sharks announced they recalled forward Scott Sabourin from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the San Jose Barracuda. Sabourin has tallied 14 points in 35 games in the AHL this season.
The 32-year-old signed a two-year deal worth $775,000 in July 2023. The Orleans, Ontario native has bounced up between the NHL and AHL, sitting at 83 goals, 170 points and 1,160 penalty minutes in the AHL over 499 career games. He’s one of a small group of enforcers who still manage to get work year after year, and ever has 46 games of NHL experience with San Jose, Ottawa and Toronto over the past three seasons, appearing in three games with the Sharks during the 2023-24 campaign.
San Jose sits eighth in the Pacific Division with a 14-32-6 record and 34 points through 52 games this season.
