Sharks re-sign Justin Bailey to a one-year, two-way contract

San Jose Sharks general manager Mike Grier announced that the club has re-signed Justin Bailey to a one-year, two-way contract extension.

Bailey was expected to become a free agent on July 1. He is coming off a one-year, two-way deal he signed with San Jose last year following a player tryout agreement.

Bailey recorded five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 59 games during the 2023-24 campaign with San Jose. He appeared in 16 American Hockey League (AHL) games with the San Jose Barracuda where he tallied six goals and five assists for 11 points in his first 16 games. In his first NHL game with the Sharks, he tallied an assist against the Washington Capitals and followed after with a career-long, three-game point streak.

The Buffalo, New York product has appeared in 141 career NHL games with the Vancouver Canucks, the Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabres and Sharks. During his NHL career, he’s scored 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points.

During the 2022-23 campaign with the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors, Bailey scored 19 goals and 13 assists for 32 points in 58 games.

Bailey was taken in the second round by the Sabres in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. In 370 career AHL games across eight seasons, Bailey has 136 goals and 105 assists for 241 points, including a career-high 28 goals and 19 assists for 47 points through 53 games with the Utica Comets in 2019-20.
