Following Connor McDavid’s sensational night that saw him notch six assists, Daily Faceoff insider Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk hit on McDavid’s night and how that was his best performance yet in his illustrious career.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Connor McDavid was sensational last night, six apples and he is now surging up the NHL point race. He is just 13 points back of Nikita Kucherov but that was an all-time performance from 97.

Frank Seravalli: Yeah I think the causal nature in which it happens is the craziest part. That assist to Evander Kane was just bananas. I saw a tweet that said, McDavid does stuff on skates that most people can’t do in sneakers. There’s not much fanfare, you see six assists and that’s just McDavid. You talk about getting into the point race and a six-point night will surely help.

Tyler Yaremchuk: McDavid is the second player this season to pick up a six-assist night. Our guy Jason Gregor had a good tweet about it outlining that McDavid is the 26th player in NHL history to have six assists and the 5th Oiler, joining Gretzky, Coffey, Messier and Draisaitl. The other thing McDavid did last night was register his 600th assist becoming the fourth fastest player to achieve that mark. McDavid joins an elite company along with the likes of Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux and Gretzky.

Frank Seravalli: 600 assists in 616 games is just crazy. Kind of reminds you of the Gretzky stat that if he didn’t score a goal he’d still have more assists than anyone else does points.
