The St. Louis Blues announced on social media that forward Alexey Toropchenko left Friday’s game against the Dallas Stars with an undisclosed injury.

The injury appeared to occur during the second period after Toropchenko helped break up a Stars scoring chance. When he attempted to retrieve a loose puck behind the Blues’ net, two Dallas players delivered hits on him at the same time.

He finished the night with one hit and 5:08 of ice time.

Toropchenko, 27, finished the 2025-26 campaign with four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 65 regular-season games. Now in his sixth NHL season, the 6-foot-6 Russian winger has 34 goals and 37 assists for 71 points in 325 career contests.

In January 2026, he signed a two-year contract extension with an annual average value of $2.5 million.

Blues’ Carlo ejected for knee-on-knee hit

Later in the game, Blues’ defenseman Brandon Carlo received a game misconduct for a knee-on-knee hit on Stars’ forward Roope Hintz.

Hintz attempted to avoid contact from Carlo while trying to caress a pass that got away from him. As Carlo delivered the hit, his knee made contact with Hintz’s, which sent the Stars’ forward to the ice.

Hintz had to be helped off the ice, but he would return later in the game.

Carlo finished the night with one hit, one blocked shot and 15 penalty minutes in 15:27 of ice time. As for Hintz, he had two hits in 16:57.

St. Louis went on to win 4-0.

Carlo is coming off a 2025-26 season with the Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs that saw him record seven assists in 55 games, averaging 19:21 of ice time. In 11 NHL seasons, the 29-year-old has 29 goals and 90 assists for 119 points in 692 career regular-season games with the Blues, Leafs and Boston Bruins.

Meanwhile, Hintz finished 2025-26 with 15 goals and 29 assists for 44 points in 53 games. Now in his eighth NHL season, he has 190 goals and 231 assists for 421 points in 521 career games.
