St. Louis Blues’ forward Jordan Kyrou sidelined with upper-body injury

St. Louis Blues Head Coach Craig Berube announced that forward Jordan Kyrou would be sidelined with an upper-body injury and will miss Tuesday’s game against the Seattle Kraken. 

The incident occurred late in the third period during Monday’s 5-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. Canucks defenseman Kyle Burroughs caught Kyrou off guard with a hit along the boards, and he would not take another shift. Kyrou recorded his first career NHL hat trick earlier in the game. 

Berube told reporters that “It was a clean hit. It was shoulder to shoulder. It just kind of surprised him a bit, I think, more than anything. It wasn’t a dirty hit.” 

Kryou leads the Blues in goals with 16 on the season and in points with 32. Last season he exploded and registered 75 points (27G, 48A) in 74 games, along with seven goals and nine points during the Blues’ 2022 playoff run.That performance earned the Toronto, Ontario product a monster pay raise. In September 2022, Kyrou signed an 8-year $65 million contract extension, the contract will not kick in until the 2023-24 season. It will see an average annual value of $8.125 million. Kyrou was drafted 35th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft and through 204 games with the Blues, he has recorded 154 points.
