On Sunday, St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong announced that the team is sending defenseman Logan Mailloux to the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.

In a corresponding move, the Blues are calling up fellow rearguard Hunter Skinner.

Like the rest of the team, Mailloux has had a rough start to the 2025-26 season. Along with being a healthy scratch a few times, the 22-year-old has appeared in nine games and has yet to register a point. He has a plus/minus of -12, tied with forward Brayden Schenn for the worst on the Blues thus far. Mailloux has averaged just 12:33 of ice time, playing under 11 minutes three times this year.

This is Mailloux’s first season with the Blues organization, as he was acquired by St. Louis in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens this past July, in exchange for Zac Bolduc, who was sent back to the Habs.

This is an important season for the Belle River, Ont. native, as Mailloux is in the final season of his three-year, entry-level contract. The deal has an AAV of $902,500. It’s not yet known what interest the Blues have in extending the player, who will become a restricted free agent next summer.

In just 17 games in the NHL, eight of which have been with Montreal over the past couple of years, Mailloux has two goals and three assists for five points, with a -16 rating. In 148 AHL games, both regular-season and playoffs, Mailloux has potted 28 goals and 58 assists for 86 points.

Skinner has yet to make his NHL debut, having spent the first five seasons of his pro career in the minors, including parts of three seasons with the T-Birds. He has notched two points in 11 games thus far in the ‘A.’

The Blues (5-8-3) are scheduled to host the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.
