Stars get Tyler Seguin, Sam Steel and Matt Dumba back for Oct. 22 game against Sabres
The Dallas Stars are getting a big boost to their lineup on Tuesday night, with forwards Tyler Seguin and Sam Steel, as well as defenseman Matt Dumba, set to return from injury.
Seguin missed the past three games with a lower-body injury, but had played some decent hockey before the injury. He has two goals and one assist for three points in three games, building upon a campaign that saw him register 25 goals and 27 assists for 52 points in 68 games a year ago. Seguin was originally listed as day-to-day back on Oct. 15.
Steel, meanwhile, missed Saturday’s 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers due to an undisclosed ailment. Prior to it, he had a goal and two points in five games. This is Steel’s second year with the club, potting nine goals and 24 points in 77 games with Dallas in 2023-24.
Dumba was also activated off injured reserve after dealing with a lower-body injury. The 30-year-old missed four games, and didn’t have a point in either of his first two outings. He did give the team a decent physical presence alongside Miro Heiskanen, so getting him back in a top-four spot will give the team a solid boost.
Oskar Back and Brendan Smith will sit as alternates with the three players returning to the ice on Tuesday. Jake Oettinger is set to get the start tonight as he looks to keep his early season Vezina Trophy hopes alive.
The 5-1-0 Stars will take on the 2-4-1 Buffalo Sabres as part of the NHL’s 32-team Frozen Frenzy at 7:00 PM ET. It will mark the first game with the Stars icing a fully healthy lineup, with no players on injured reserve. Dallas will then take on Boston on Thursday before returning home to welcome Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday evening.
