The Dallas Stars made two signings on Friday, inking Matej Blumel and Emilio Pettersen to one-year, two-way contracts.
The 24-year-old Blumel spent last season with the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL affiliate, scoring 31 goals and 31 assists for 62 points in 72 games. He led the club in goals and was second in points. In two AHL seasons, he’s scored 50 goals and 56 assists for 106 points in 130 games.

Drafted in the fourth round by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Blumel spent three seasons with Pardubice HC of the Czech league, where he would 33 goals and 28 assists for 61 points during that span.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Pettersen split 2023-24 with the AHL Stars and the Calgary Wranglers, scoring 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points in 66 games. He’s spent the last four seasons in the AHL, hitting career highs in 2022-23 with the Wranglers, scoring 19 goals and 25 assists for 44 points in 61 games.

Pettersen has 49 goals and 73 assists for 122 points in 215 career AHL games with the Stars, Wranglers and the Stockton Heat.
As for the NHL club, the Stars went 52-21-9 last season, first in the Central Division. After defeating the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche in the first and second rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, respectively, they were eliminated in six games by the Edmonton Oilers in six games.
