Hischier, Josi highlight Switzerland’s initial six-player roster for 2026 Olympics

Switzerland’s Olympic men’s ice hockey team announced their first six players on Monday, highlighted by NHL All-Stars like New Jersey Devils’ forward Nico Hischier and Nashville Predators’ defenseman Roman Josi.

Two other Devils were named to the list in Timo Meier and Jonas Siegenthaler, while Winnipeg Jets’ forward Nino Niederreiter and Los Angeles Kings’ forward Kevin Fiala were also on the initial six.

Hischier recorded 35 goals and 34 assists in 69 games with the Devils in 2024-25. The 26-year-old, who was named New Jersey’s captain during the 2020-21 season, has 171 goals and 251 assists for 422 points in 527 career regular-season games across eight seasons.
The 34-year-old Josi had nine goals and 29 assists for 38 points in 53 games in 2024-25. Through 14 NHL seasons, Josi, who was named Predators captain in 2017-18, has 190 goals and 534 assists for 724 points in 962 regular-season games. He won the 2019-20 Norris Trophy.
Meier finished 2024-25 with 26 goals and 27 assists for 53 points, giving him 217 goals and 218 goals for 435 points in 621 career games with the Devils and San Jose Sharks. As for Siegenthaler, the 28-year-old had two goals and seven assists for nine points in 55 games. In seven seasons with the Devils and Washington Capitals, the defender has 10 goals and 56 assists for 66 points.
Niederreiter has just finished his 14th season, scoring 17 goals and 20 assists for 37 points in 82 games with the Jets. Making his NHL debut in 2010-11 with the New York Islanders, Niederreiter has 240 goals and 240 assists for 480 points in 969 career regular-season games with the Jets, Predators, Carolina Hurricanes, Minnesota Wild and Islanders.
As for Fiala, the 28-year-old scored a career-high 35 goals and 60 points with the Kings last season. Through 11 seasons, Fiala has 211 goals and 277 assists for 488 points in 651 regular-season games with the Kings, Wild and Predators.
