With training camps coming to an end, teams across the PWHL have placed players on the waiver wire, with 16 faces now available to the rest of the league.

The Minnesota Frost put forward Syndey Brodt on the wire. Brodt was a depth piece on Minnesota in 2023-24, though she missed the first few months of the season after suffering a brutal injury during the preseason. In seven regular-season games, she registered an assist. She played in all 10 postseason games for Minnesota, potting a goal and an assist, helping the team win the first-ever Walter Cup.

Brodt registered an assist during one of her two preseason appearances. Prior to coming to the PWHL, she spent time in the SDHL and PWHPA before captaining the Minnesota Whitecaps of the defunct Premier Hockey Federation in 2022-23.

Sarah Bujold was a constant presence in the Montreal lineup this past season. The former St. Francis Xavier product appeared in 21 of the team’s 24 games, scoring three goals and four points. Bujold came into the PWHL with plenty of experience at the pro level. She played three years in the SDHL–two seasons with Djurgårdens IF and one with HV71. The New Brunswick native spent the 2022-23 season with the PHF’s Metropolitan Riveters.

Here is the full list of waiver-eligible players:

Boston Fleet: Cami Kronish, Ilona Markova, Maude Poulin-Labelle
Minnesota Frost: Lauren Bench, Sydney Brodt, Kaitlyn O’Donohoe
Montreal Victoire: Marlène Boissonnault, Sarah Bujold, Tricia Deguire
New York Sirens: Madison Bizal, Alexa Gruschow, Savannah Norcross

The New York Sirens placed forward Savannah Norcross was also put on waivers. The 24-year-old spent the inaugural season with New York, registering one assist in 20 games, and has a plus/minus of +2. Norcross entered the pro ranks after a fruitful five-year college career with Boston College and Minnesota.

Another Siren on the wire is defender Alexa Gruschow. Last season, Gruschow appeared in four games, last seeing the ice on April 28. The Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania native averaged around six minutes of ice time per game while posting a -3 rating. The former RPI product has plenty of experience at the pro level, spending four seasons on the PWHPA Dream Gap Tour and playing three years for the Riveters before that.

The league’s waiver period is open until 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Rosters must be finalized by 5 p.m. Teams are limited to 23 standard player contracts and three reserved players.

The 2024-25 season begins on Saturday, with the Sceptres taking on the Fleet while the Victoire hosts the Charge.
