Lightning sign Scott Sabourin to one-year, two-way contract

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced Sunday the team signed forward Scott Sabourin to a one-year, two-way contract that will keep him with the club through the 2025-26 season.

The 32-year-old Sabourin spent the majority of the 2024-25 season with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda, scoring 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points and 111 penalty minutes. He also appeared in one NHL game with the San Jose Sharks.

In 12 AHL seasons, Sabourin has 88 goals and 93 assists for 181 points and 1,223 penalty minutes in 532 career regular-season games with the Barracuda, Belleville Senators, Toronto Marlins, Stockton Heat, San Diego Gulls, Iowa Wild, Ontario Reign and Manchester Monarchs. Sabourin has also played 23 Calder Cup Playoff games.

His best professional season came in 2022-23 with the Senators, scoring 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points and 177 penalty minutes in 51 regular-season games. He also scored a career-high 18 goals to go along with nine assists, 27 points and 192 penalty minutes in 2023-24 with the Barracuda.

Sabourin has also played in 47 career NHL games, scoring two goals and six assists for eight points and 58 penalty minutes with the Sharks, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Undrafted, Sabourin was signed by the Los Angeles Kings to a three-year, entry-level contract in October 2013.

Sabourin played four seasons in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals, scoring 46 goals and 34 assists for 80 points in 166 career regular-season games. His best season came in 2012-13, scoring 30 goals and 20 assists for 50 points and 142 penalty minutes in 65 regular-season games.

He also scored five goals and recorded five assists for 10 points and 37 penalty minutes in 25 OHL playoff games.
