The Tampa Bay Lightning have traded winger Tanner Jeannot to the Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly announced during Day 2 of the 2024 NHL Draft.

Jeannot, 27, collected seven goals and 14 points in 55 games with the Lightning during the 2023-24 regular season. He added one assist in four games with Tampa Bay in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Lightning originally traded five draft picks (including a 2025 first-rounder) to acquire Jeannot from the Nashville Predators at the 2023 trade deadline. On Saturday, the Lightning received a 2025 second-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick from L.A. for the 6’2″, 220-pound left wing.

An undrafted player, Jeannot signed his first professional contract with Nashville in 2018 after a strong junior career with the WHL’s Moose Jaw Warriors.

The Estevan, Saskatchewan product split his first few pro seasons between the AHL and ECHL before making his NHL debut with the Predators during the 2020-21 campaign.

Jeannot truly arrived on the scene in 2021-22, scoring 24 goals and 41 points along with 130 penalty minutes in 81 games with the Predators and putting himself into the conversation for the Calder Memorial Trophy, awarded to the league’s top rookie.

But Jeannot’s production took a step back in 2022-23, as he managed just five goals and 14 points in 56 games before being traded to Tampa Bay for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and defenseman Cal Foote.

Through 227 career games over parts of four NHL seasons split between the Lightning and Predators, Jeannot has collected 42 goals and 80 points. He’s added three points (all assists) in 16 career playoff contests.

The Lightning have been active on the trade front on Day 2 of the draft, previously sending defenseman Mikhail Sergachev to the Utah Hockey Club in exchange for forward Conor Geekie, defenseman J.J. Moser, and two draft picks.
