Tarasenko, Pronger highlight Blues’ NHL quarter-century team
With 2025 on the horizon, the National Hockey League (NHL), is celebrating the best of the past 25 years by revealing Quarter-Century Teams.
Each club will be represented by a first team and second team of six players — three forwards, two defensemen and one goalie — who played for the franchise after Jan. 1, 2000.

Among those on the St. Louis Blues first quarter century team include Vladimir Tarasenko, Keith Tkachuk, Alexander Steen, Alex Pietrangelo, Chris Pronger and Jordan Binnington.
Tarasenko compiled 262 goals and 291 assists for 553 points in 644 games from 2012-13 to the 2022-23 season and played a crucial role in the Blues winning the Stanley Cup in 2019. Steen played the most games by any forward for St. Louis in the past 25 years, racking up 765 games with the Blues where he tallied 496 points. Tkachuk played 543 games in two different stints with the Blues and ranks fifth among Blues all time leaders for points with 427.
Pietrangelo, who was the captain, played a big role for the Blues in their 2019 Stanley Cup championship, Pietrangelo leads all Blues defenseman in goals with 109, assists with 341 and 450 points in the quarter-century, while playing 758 games for St. Louis. Pronger’s decorated career began in 1995-96 and he won the Hart Trophy as the League MVP and the Norris Trophy as the best defenseman in the NHL during the 1999-2000 campaign.
Meanwhile, Binnington’s run began during the 2018-19 season helping relive Jake Allen and taking over the starting netminder position. Binnington is the Blues’ all-time leader in wins with 154, entering the Winter Classic.
The second quarter-century team is made up of David Backes, Ryan O’Reilly, David Perron, Colton Parayko, Al MacInnis and goaltender Brian Elliott.
