Teuvo Teravainen, Frederik Andersen, Ondrej Kase not close to returning for Carolina Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes look to be without three regular members of their lineup for the foreseeable future, head coach Rod Brind’Amour told reporters Wednesday.
Hurricanes forwards Teuvo Teravainen and Ondrej Kase, as well as goaltender Frederik Andersen, are currently on the shelf while dealing with various injuries — and, according to Brind’Amour, none of them are close to returning.
Teravainen, 28, is currently on injured reserve with an upper-body injury and has not played since Nov. 10. Brind’Amour confirmed that Teravainen’s injury is not a concussion but did not clarify further. Teravainen has seven points (all assists) in 14 games with the Hurricanes this season.
Kase, 27, played just one game with the Hurricanes at the start of the year before being sidelined with a concussion. The Czech winger has an extensive injury history dating back throughout his tenures with the Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Andersen, 33, has also played with the Ducks and Maple Leafs during his long NHL career. He’s on IR with an undisclosed injury and has not played since Nov. 6 against Toronto. In eight games with Carolina this season, Andersen has a 5–3–0 record with an .891 save percentage.
The Hurricanes currently rank third in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division with a 10–5–1 record and 21 points through 16 games this season. They’ll return to action on Nov. 17 when they take on the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche at PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC.
