The biggest concerns surrounding the New York Rangers
Former NHLer Michael Del Zotto joined Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk on Daily Faceoff Live to discuss the concerns surrounding the New York Rangers, which involves their recent slump in the league standings and a small goaltending controversy. Del Zotto shines a light on how the Rangers can solve those issues at hand and why the club needs to stop rotating goalies.
Tyler Yaremchuk: I want to start with the team that drafted you, the team you got your first kick at the can with, the New York Rangers. They were humming a lot great at the beginning of the season but they have been plateauing as of late, what do you make of the Rangers’ recent play and what are your concerns?
Michael Del Zotto: There are a few things, I thought their record wasn’t really reflecting how they truly were playing. The best teams win games they probably shouldn’t win and I think the goaltending situation is unique as well, you’ve got Jonathan Quick who has been playing so well but then you have Igor Shesterkin who is used to playing 60 to 65 plus games. Now if you’re going back and forth rotating he is not able to get into the swing of things and maybe that keeps things healthy and fresh for playoffs but I think they truly need to give him a run so he can have more confidence heading into playoffs.
