The DFO Prospect Show – Ep. 13: Wyatt Johnston

We are moving back to Eastern Canada for episode thirteen of The Daily Faceoff Prospect Show. Today, host Liam Horrobin is joined by his second Ontario Hockey League star Wyatt Johnston, a forward from the Windsor Spitfires.

It was a challenging year for Johnston, who didn’t get to play a single game this past season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, he opted to train in the hope that the season would eventually begin. Of course, that did not happen. However, Johnston was given another great opportunity. He joined up with Team Canada at the U18 World Championships in Texas.

Johnston had a fantastic tournament. He scored two goals and four points in seven games as Team Canada won gold and beat Team Russia in the finals.

In his first season with Windsor, Johnston played an effective role with the Spitfires. He scored 30 points (12 goals, 18 assists) in 53 games for them. In the interview, he spoke about his favourite moments from that first year in Windsor and what he’s looking forward to the most when they return.

Also, in the show, listen to what Johnston has to say about his whole experience away with Team Canada and what other sport he likes to take part in.
