The DFO Rundown Ep. 251 – What’s going on in Ottawa?
The start of the Michael Andlauer era in Ottawa has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start, and its no fault of the Senators’ new owner. A pair of investigations that began before he bought the team have resulted in some stiff punishments being levied against the club.
Jason and Frank began today’s podcast by talking about the league’s decision to strip the Sens of a first-round pick over the Evegenii Dadonov situation and Andlauer’s reaction. It led to some talk about another vague statement by the league and whether or not they need to change the way they operate.
Pierre Dorion is also out as GM of the club and Steve Staois is in on an interim basis. Could Staois take over full-time soon? Is Head Coach DJ Smith officially on the hot seat? The guys debated it.
They also talked about the struggling Calgary Flames and whether or not they can overcome another slow start and find a way to make the playoffs. It led to a bigger conversation about whether or not the Flames should be keeping this core locked in or if they should head toward a rebuild.
They also hit on the Anaheim Ducks early season success, Quinn Hughes’ hot start, and more on today’s episode of the pod.
